Skills: Receptive Skill (listening).
Aims: Presenting some details on Junior D&AYF, how it functions and what it involves.

ACTIVITY I

Activity I: Ice Breakers (Facilitator provided)

Resource: Interactive games and then Informal Quiz dealing with students' perceptions about drugs
Skills/Aims: cross-community, cross-academic and social interaction.

Activity II: Reinforcement on Drugs Knowledge (Facilitator provided)

Resource: A grid and a leaflet.
Skills: effective communication, working together, problem solving.
Aims: The students are given a grid on drugs related issues, which they, among themselves, have to fill in (in pairs then in the whole workshop group).

Personal Understanding - exploring the different ways of achieving self-esteem-investigate the effects on the body of illegal drugs - investigate the influence of peer pressure on a young person -

ACTIVITY III

Activity III: Attitudes towards drugs related issues -Line Debate

Resource: A range of various drugs/alcohol related statements.
Skills: working together, problem solving, negotiating, public speaking. Aims: All students line up in the middle of the hall. Those who agree with a statement go to the right and those who disagree to the left. The students then are given an opportunity to voice their opinions and convince their peers to swap the sides. The students' attitude towards drugs will be tested in this way. This exercise involves making informed decision.

Talk on School Drug Policy

Aims: Informing the students about Drugs Education issues and tackling the School Drug Policy.

ACTIVITY IV

Activity III: School Drug Policy workshop (Facilitator provided)

Resource: worksheets including a set of questions for group discussion.
Skills: Communication, negotiating, reaching consensus, presenting feedback.
Aims: Based on the previous talk, their own school drug policy and own experiences the students will be required to formulate a set of recommendations towards their own School Drug Policy looking at e.g. target groups, counselling, school councils, etc. A formal feedback will follow after the completion of the exercise.
