At the Second Sitting you will be participating in an interactive workshop - 'Cannabis Trail'. It is a role-play comprising those interest groups involved in the drug chain from the cannabis farmer to the user. There will be 6 roles in total. Each of you will represent one role (there can be only two the same roles per school):
Cannabis farmer (they are at the start of the 'Drug Chain'), Interpol (is a name for the international Police) , Banker (they find it often difficult to find out if the lodged money is 'dirty money' or not), Drug Dealer (there are two types of dealers: small-local level and big ones - selling big amounts of drugs), UK Politician (make the laws preventing people harming themselves by taking drugs),
Drug User (people at the end of the 'Drug Chain')
During the workshop in a group of 12 you will try to agree 'in role' on ways/ideas how to reduce, the production, supply and demand of cannabis and cocaine from the view point of your interest group.
It order to be able to do this task, first you have to research your role thoroughly. You will be provided with a range of websites and other relevant resources, which should help you to find some information about the person you represent. Save all relevant information about your role on a floppy disc in a form of word document.
Before you start your research familiarise yourself with the following questions relating to your role and bear it in mind while working on your role. The following questions will be answered at the Second Sitting:
For Cannabis Farmers: Work out six ways of reducing cannabis production.
For Interpol: Work out six ways of preventing cannabis smuggling.
For Bankers: Work out six ways of preventing 'money laundering'.
For Drug Dealers: Work out six ways of preventing Drug Dealers from making money.
For UK Politicians: Work out six points for an effective government drug policy.
For Users: Work out six ways of helping Drug Users with their drug problems
