• The farmers (from Morocco) are at the start of the 'Drugs Chain'
• The used to only grow these plants in small quantities for themselves as it was part of their culture but demand from people in the West (our countries) encouraged them to grow large quantities
• They grow cannabis because they get more money for these crops than for any other crop
• It is illegal to grow these crops but their governments are not too strict at the enforcing this because everyone is so poor.
• If the crops of cannabis were destroyed , the farmers would have no money tolive on and would starve
What can be done?
• Fair trade?
• Help from richer countries? Or from the United Nations?
• Grow other crops?
