1. Greater understanding of the negative effects of illicit drugs & alcohol
2. Increased knowledge of Human Rights - Legislation and its relevance to the lives of the pupils
3. Meeting requirements/the concepts from the Personal Development Strand
4. Development of Skills:
§ Development of Key Skills (ICT, effective communication, working with others)
§ Development of self-esteem & self confidence
§ Confidence to express own views
§ Ability of pupils to make informed decisions on issues relating to illicit drugs & alcohol
§ Training students to educate their peers

Day One: Introduction to drugs/health & alcohol/health related problems. Confronting the pupils' perceptions. (full day session)

- Drugs and Alcohol Youth Forum - Ethos
- Talk on Drugs & Alcohol and Health
- Reinforcement on Drugs & Alcohol Knowledge - workshop
- First Line Debate on attitudes towards drugs & alcohol
- Heroin Chain 'Who wants to be millionaire'
- CEWC NI website - preparation for the 'alcohol chain'
Day Two: Human Rights/'Drug Chain'/School Drug Policy (full-day session)
- Alcohol Campaign in Belfast City Centre -Talk
- 'Alcohol Chain' role-play
- Second Line Debate on attitudes towards drugs & alcohol
- Motions for the debate - general discussion in workshops
- Debating Procedures/Practice
Day Three: School Drug Policy - Workshop Activity and Final Debate (the whole day)
- £ 2 million / 3 year harm reduction budget plan workshop
- Practice Debate
- Lunch
- Plenary Debate on Harm Reduction
- Tour around the venue (Belfast City Hall )
Day Four: Presentation/Reporting back to a chosen type of audiences - Active Citizenship (30minutes-1hour -one of the following)
- School Management Board
- School Assembly
- Drugs Day in the School
- Form Class Presentation
- City Hall/Assembly Presentation etc.
- Students' choice
